You can change almost everything on your printed receipt: the logo, the text at the top and bottom, which line-item columns show, and which totals appear. This article shows you where to do it.
What You'll Need
Before you start: Receipt printing and customizing is part of Plus. You'll also want a transaction on hand so you can preview your changes as you go.
Open the Receipt Designer
-
Open the receipt preview for any transaction — see Print a Receipt if you're not there yet.
-
Tap the Customize icon (the sliders) in the top bar. This opens Receipt setup.

The screen shows your receipt from top to bottom. Tap any zone to edit it, then tap Save — you'll see "Receipt settings saved."
What You Can Change
- Header — the boxes at the top. Add up to eight boxes, each holding text, a barcode, or a QR code. Tap Insert tag to drop in live values like your company name or the transaction number, and set each box's alignment.
- Line items — under Columns, choose up to three columns (for example Item, Qty, Amount), each with its own label, value tag, alignment, and width.
- Totals — pick which rows print (subtotal, discount, shipping, tax, paid, balance, and more). Each row can be set to Always, Auto (shows only when it has a value), or hidden, with a custom label.
- Footer — the boxes at the bottom, edited the same way as the header.
- Logo — toggle Dither logo when printing for better detail on a shaded or colorful logo.
- Wording & translations — the fixed words the app prints on its own, like "PAYMENTS," "Cash tendered," "Change," and "PAID." Leave any field blank to keep its default.
Paper width and print size live in Receipt printer setup — tap the size line near the top of Receipt setup to get there.
Each Document Type Has Its Own Receipt
This is the part that trips people up: your receipt design is saved per document type. Customizing the Cash Sale receipt does not change your Invoice receipt.
-
Find the Receipt type pill at the top of Receipt setup. It shows the current type (for example, Invoice) with a caption like "Used when you print an invoice."
-
Tap the pill to switch to another type — Invoice, Estimate, Sales Order, Cash Sale, or Payment — then customize that one.
-
Save each type separately. If you switch types with unsaved edits, the app asks whether to discard them first.
The one exception: Columns apply to all receipt types at once, so your line-item layout stays consistent everywhere.
This mirrors how PDF templates work — see Add Extra Information to Your Invoice PDF.
Good to Know
- Nothing is deleted when you hide it. Hiding a box, the line items, or the totals block keeps the content — tap the eye icon again to bring it back.
- Made a mess? Tap the menu (three dots) and choose Reset to default to restore that type's header, footer, line items, and totals.
- Preview before you commit — tap Preview to jump back to the receipt and see exactly how it prints.
- Each company you manage keeps its own receipt design.
