The App Can't See My Folder

You can see the folder plainly in your Files app, but MobileBiz Pro says it can't find your CSV file, backup, or export folder. Nothing is wrong with your phone — the app simply hasn't been given permission to that folder yet. Here's how to fix it.

Why This Happens

Modern Android keeps apps walled off from your folders by default. Seeing a folder in your Files app does not mean another app can read it.

MobileBiz Pro can only use folders you have explicitly granted it. Until you point the app at a folder and confirm the access prompt, that folder is invisible to it — even if it's sitting right there in your file manager.

The Fix: Grant the Folder

You grant folder access from the same place you set your storage location.

  1. Open Settings, then tap Data & backup.

  2. Tap Storage folders, then tap Storage folder at the top.

  3. Tap Choose Folder. Your device's own folder picker opens — this is the Android system screen, not a MobileBiz Pro screen.

  4. Browse to the exact folder that holds your files and select it.

  5. Tap the confirm button at the bottom — usually labelled USE THIS FOLDER — then tap ALLOW on the access prompt that follows.

Once you tap Allow, MobileBiz Pro can read and write that folder. Your CSV, backup, and export folders now appear where the app expects them.

Common Traps

  • You granted the parent folder, not the one with the files — or the other way around. Access applies to the folder you pick and the folders inside it. If your file sits in a subfolder you didn't include, or in a different folder entirely, the app still can't see it. Grant the exact folder that actually contains your files.

  • You reinstalled the app or switched phones. Folder access is a permission tied to that specific install — it isn't carried over by a backup or restore. After a reinstall or a move to a new phone, grant the folder again using the steps above.

  • Files on an SD card. If your phone has a physical SD card and your files live there, the same steps work — just browse to the SD card location in the folder picker and grant it.

Where This Matters

Granting the right folder is what makes these work:

  • CSV import — the app can only read import files from a folder you've granted.
  • Backups — device backups are saved to and restored from your granted folder.
  • Exports — exported CSV and report files land in your granted folder, ready to open in your Files app.
